Preparation for Czech Exam for Foreigners to Obtain Czech Citizenship

Starting from January 1, 2014 due to approval of law No. 186/2013 Coll. on the citizenship of the Czech Republic it is necessary to prove knowledge of Czech language and Czech cultural background as a prerequisite for application to obtain Czech citizenship.

To obtain this document it is needed to prove the extent of knowledge of Czech language by passing an exam from Czech language at B1 level, and to prove basic knowledge of Czech constitutional system, basic orientation in sociocultural, geographical and historical background of the Czech Republic by passing an exam from Czech cultural background.

Czech language exam has written and oral part. The written part consists of reading comprehension (50 minutes), listening comprehension (30 minutes) and writing (60 minutes). The oral part takes about 15 minutes for 2 candidates.

Exam in Czech cultural background is written, takes 30 minutes and contains 30 questions. It tests knowledge of basic fields for citizens (everyday life; citizen, state and law; citizen and money; work and business) and basic information about history, culture and geography of the Czech Republic.
